Getting off to the right start

Picture
The soil is what we depend upon to support and feed our plants throughout the season.  Minimal disturbance is the best approach, so that when we are to put in a transplant, the trowell is held upright.  It is pushed straight down to the depth needed to accept the root ball, and pulled sideways just enough to create space for the planting.  The plant is placed, and the displaced soil moved back to the plant.  At the finish, soil is lightly pressed in from the outside area towards the roots.
