Trellising

Picture
We trellis pole beans, peas, and cucumbers.  Trellis frames are made up
of 3/4 " light conduit joined by conduit connectors.

We cut the conduit to length and bend uprights as needed right in the parking lot.
Cucumber trellises are about 5 1/2' tall and placed at a 45 degree angle with a 4' upright about 3' from the base.
Plastic tees connect uprights to the trellis.

The trellises for pole beans and peas are about 6 1/2' high.

The conduit pieces at the tops are either 2' or 3' wide, depending on the width of the bed, allowing
6" for the bend of the upright on each side.

The trellis fabric is most often light metal fencing, although we have tried fabric netting,
plastic fencing and strings.  The wire fencing with 2"x3" holes seems to work the best.
